Outrace - sinister robots taking over London...

For this year's London Design Festival, Clemens Weisshaar and Reed Kram are providing Outrace; the installation for Trafalgar Square where the general public can can wreak havoc (I say 'wreak havoc', they say 'interact') with eight robots on loan from Audi's production line. Check out their ridiculously cool menacing video here:

Ho ho ho Little Tikes Play House, ich don't think so

There's a new mini house in town and this one comes with green roof tiles, a chandelier or two and is draped in muslin and has a picturesque river and, and, and. And I want it.

Banana Ghost ahoy!

The award for Most Bat Shit Crazy Ad of all eternity goes to... Thai lightbulb company Sylvania.

Starry starry nightscape

I love these nightscapes by Justin Carrasquillo - get a nice bit of tranquillity going on from gazing at them. Except the reddish one, which makes me feel as though I've gone to bed with headspins. One foot on the floor and I'll probably be ok.

Check out all of his photos here

Diamond mirrors are a girl's best friend

I like looking at me. I particularly like looking at me when my face is framed by a mirror that looks like a 12 million carat solitaire. Sold.

Smallest frog EVER. Intrepid science folk have discovered a new species of micro-frog in Borneo. The microhyla nepenthicola is so minute that the scientists were only made aware of them by their ribbeting and had to catch them on a big white sheet in order to see them. Stuff you micro-pig, there's a new inconceivably small creature in town.

Follow this link to listen to its call (sounds like a very small wood-scraper - you know the kind, the instrument they give you at school when you can't even master the triangle...)

"At the W. I don't think this Viognier is going to work well with the foie gras I just ordered."

Here are a few little gems from Tweeting Too Hard. I think the venerable John McInroe would have something to say about this lot. Read on, but you might need to bite your hands...
OMG i was saying how i couldn't afford the gas to fly daddy's jet to the riviera this summer, and this barista totally rolled her eyes at me @babesmcphee
We WALKED to the grocery store this morning. We are ADORABLE. And green. @suzannegolden9

Bad start to the day. The Segway caught a flat on the way to Starbucks.@kochschwinger

it's so life-affirming when the poor fall in love. @babesmcphee

I make multi-million $ decisions on a regular basis -- why is it soooo difficult to decide what to do with my hair? @MKReflections
I gave my cleaning lady a raise today, even though she didn't ask, as my own little contribution to fighting the recession. @brettschulte

Everything is allegedly shiny

Ad agency Weiden + Kennedy have come up with this "I am the rules" video for Nike / Footlocker. It features sporty folk doing sporty stuff, my favourite being Andrey Arshavin, who plays for Arsenal, no really, that's his name (he's the guy in the faux tux. I might fancy him: Mrs Arshavin has a certain ring to it.)

I reckon the music has a big part to play in my enjoyment of it - the track is Alles Neu (Everything's Shiny) by the curious-faced Berliner Peter Fox - a be-suited reggae and hip hop artist.

Find it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD0A2plMSVA (complete with Fox rapping, sexy washer-women and some cello playing chimps...)

...and the instrumental version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVOjBREQg0E

Q. Which is more compelling? You decide.
A. You don't decide. It's obviously the one with the Teutonic rapping. DUH. It contains the line "I slay my goldfish. Bury it in the yard" and has some excellent moments around mark 3:45. No competition.

You are naughty, but I like you...
Coco de Mer's 'Whatever tickles your fancy' video.

The Coco de Mer shop near Covent Garden has changing rooms with a Catholic style priestly confession grate so you can try on their wares and dim the lighting, then your love interest can peer through and 'Phwoar' to his heart's galore...

What-choo lookin' at?

I seeeeee you. Spooky. Nevertheless, I'd like some of these Peter Vos paintings on my wall. They could also potentially negate the need for CCTV.

Stop It!

That's too freaking cool. Get me a house with some portico and doric action going on and I am all over having a snazzy projection on it.

Take a look at this video of a 3D projection on a couple of buildings:

I suppose it's time (already?) to come clean... the best thing about the internet in terms of joy is cats. That's a pretty known fact and something I subscribe to entirely, so without further ado, here is Air-Suckling Cat... I do a mighty fine impression of him when I'm concentrating.

Hey! Land Slugs, you ain't got shit on this

She saw sea slugs on the sea shore... I did actually, in Australia I spotted one of these (pictured) in the water, I was pretty sure that a nattily dressed Will Smith was going to hop off a surf board and flashily erase my memory for finding an alien (he didn't).

Nudibranches - the slugs of the sea, take a look at this selection of them at the New York Times:

Don't do it! Don't Jump!

Holy Heart Failure Batman! That is impressive and cool and frightening. Free-diver Guillame Nery takes my breath away faster than that bit in Top Gun, or maybe Hot Shots: Part Deux, I forget. Whatever, it's Free-dive Base-Jumping and it's stunning to watch.

Tall enough to taste the rainbow...

Ever seen a man milk a giraffe? Ever seen a man milk a giraffe and then eat the multi-coloured sweets which topple from the giraffe's udders whilst laughing like a crazy? Well then, I suggest you watch this.

What's that?

High heeled goat-hoof gun shoes? Sold! To Satan's prostitute.
Gad I want a pair of these.

Check out these beauties and some other frankly astonishing / revolting works at the Abnormals Gallery:

Nice try Post Its...

I'd definitely prefer these Ginko sticky bookmarks. You can peel them off, write a little note and then stick them wherever you please. Delightful plus. Bravo Sangwoo Nam (designer), bravo.

If Papa Smurf had got his little blue Smurf hands on some of these mushroom lights, I think he would have stood a good chance of getting his tree featured in Interiors. Probs.
Plus they're all eco and stuff; reclaimed wood, LEDs etc etc

Holy Hoo-Ha, this is pretty great. Ad agency Mother took over the Standard Hotel NY and turned it into a light spectacular. It's a surprising shame they didn't film it with more skill and from a higher perspective though - they allegedly had 60+ dancers shaking their asses in the hotel rooms and I can't see hide or hair of them. Oversight.

Tash my tot up

Beard Revue eh? A website which points you in the direction of all things beardy. Here's a moustache mobile, perfect for any sweet child of yours. I suspect my parents might secretly have had one of these dangling over my head as a baby; it would explain a few things, mostly my moustache fetish...

Hanker for a Hamper

Hola. Here's some stuff I think is fancy.

I'm starting with this, I think it's so excellent that I want to keep it all to myself until I can afford to buy most of it. But that doesn't look likely to happen too soon so here you are; the most excellent luggage / briefcase / hamper scenario I've ever encountered, from Williams British Handmade:

Go to the link to check out the range in all its glory.
