Gun Dog

I have mixed feelings about the Povodokus gun lead. On the one hand it is such an appealing design, on the other, looking like you're about to blast your pup in the head whenever you take him out for a walk is almost too awful to bear. Plus the lady in the shot below has gone about it all in a very smug Tarantino manner and it makes me hope that the dog gave her a bit of a slobbery mauling or at least humped her into Shamesville after the photoshoot was done.

X-ray paper

I'm rather enamoured with this 'Animal Magic' wallpaper from Paperboy Wallpaper.

Garish wallpaper had a pretty ubiquitous moment for several years last decade - many a hairdressing salon and upmarket gastropub has a 'feature wall' plastered in this and this kind of shiz. Those days are behind us, onwards towards the subtle skeletons of family pets glowing from children's bedroom walls.

Hand screen printed for better defined skeletal edges, Animal Magic ain't cheap - in fact it's a rather punchy at £120 / roll.

Blue Monday

This one goes out to any poor bastards who haven't got this bank holiday Monday off.

Here are some hot naked chicks covered in blue paint.

It's Thursday but it's Friday. Links

The Skittles Rabbit has kept everyone in my office utterly delighted this week. There was a good diversion to work out that he is humming The Drinking Song from La Traviata. (Take a look at Peck the Rainbow while you're at it.) - this is the best thing I've seen all week.

In the same vein as Willy Rojas, Slinkachu is a miniaturist who works to a 1:87 scale. His aim is to reflect the melancholy and loneliness of big city life, run through with a seam of humour.

Australian Peacock Spider rocks my world

This is the fanciest bloody spider I've EVER seen.

The Peacock Spider has an amazing courtship ritual (naturally his wife is of the dull brown variety) which involves lots of multi-leg waggling and flashing of his flashy ass - head over to Ark in Space for some more details and wonderful photos by Jurgen Otto.

I got claws and night vision

So I must be the love child of Lady Deathstrike and Dr Mid-Nite. I knew it.

The guys from Pop Chart Lab who gave us the Grand Taxonomy of Rap Names and the Very Many Varieties of Beer (link) now bring us the Illustrious Omnibus of Super Powers.

Click on the large version and pick your powers (I want me some prehensile hair...).

T-Mobile's brill-o take on the Royal Wedding by Saatchi & Saatchi. Pretty joyful stuff although I did expect a little more pelvic thrusting from Harry...

  • Beautiful time lapse flight from Paris to San Fran, skip to the middle to see the Northern Lights out of the plane window. (p.s. first person to take me on holiday to see the Northern Lights wins.)
  • How to Survive Almost Any Attack. Fuck yes! About time, so many defence mechanisms against bears, lions, snakes, sharks, stabby children etc have filtered through my brain over the years that I have totally forgotten whether I'm supposed to punch a bear in the nose, hide behind a tree from a shark or make myself big for the stabby kids - all of which will result in certain death. This list also covers bees and angry carnies.

Scent, visualised.

Photographer Jenny van Sommers and set designer Rachel Thomas decided to go about things differently for their photostory on fragrance. Eschewing the artfully shot but painfully dull 'still life bottle shot' which is the usual medium, van Sommers and Thomas set about visualising the actual smell and essence.

The results are the coolest god damn pictures about scent I've ever seen.

Nice bit of reverting to a cooler-looking and more psychedelic childhood than you actually had with Holton Rower pouring paint over stuff.

Ok, ONE more skeleton for today

Cat candle which burns down to reveal a metal skeleton. Would it be mawkish to dedicate this to my newly acquired elderly cat Ivana? I think it's fine; she's very sprightly for 13.

And then we have the Skeletor Belt by Delfina Delettrez (that name's so great it has to be made up) for CotureLab. If I had a spare £2,455 lying around I would throw it at whoever I needed to for this belt.

I particularly like the bottom shot with the hands draped over the boobs.
